Assemblages

Katharine Edmonson - assemblages & masks

Katharine’s work demonstrates her interest in three-dimensional design. Her assemblages recreate microcosms of life using varied media in symbolic relationships. Each assemblage box represents part of her experience and travels in life.


Ceramics

Lois Hinman

Lois makes high-fired pottery that is both beautiful and functional. She works in stoneware and porcelain clay and is always exploring new and different techniques to improve her pieces, many of them depicting the texture of the local landscape. She has been making pottery since 1979 and still takes workshops to learn current techniques. Her work has been shown in many venues around the state and has been sold at Maturango Museum Gift Store in Ridgecrest for many years. Please Visit Lois's Website.

James Martin

James is known for the consistent quality of his ceramic pieces. Vases and other decorative ware featuring his beautifully patterned sqraffito designs are available in the gallery.

Sarah Teed - glass work, and ceramics

Ceramic, glass masks and functional works, integrating the Hawaiian Islands and the Kern River Valley. Sarah says, " From sand to glass, clay to ceramic, I participate in transformation utilizing the magic of fire."


Jewelry

Eugenia Cross - fused glass and stone

Eugenia’s jewelry combines her fused glass pieces with fine silver, natural stone and crystal. The changing seasons, the sea, and her love of animals are strong influences in her jewelry. The flow of the Kern River is a new inspiration for her gallery work. She is also drawn to the flow of the spirit, which can be seen in some of her work featuring religious images from many faiths as well as in her Personal Visualization Shrines.

Charles Topping, M.F.A. - metal work

Charles has been designing and hand casting his creations for over 20 years. He draws on Renaissance and Medieval lifestyles for inspiration. He’s had extensive teaching experience at the college level. As with many of the Stone’s Throw artists, Charles also designs special jewelry pieces and unique metal objects by consignment.

Jo Lee Vaughn - wirework

Being creative has always been an underlying theme in Jo Lee's life. Besides the intricate and unique designs she creates in her wirework and beading, she does needle arts, painting, and sewing as part of her creative outlet.

Jeanie Zebrak

Jeanie Zebrak has been creating beautiful pieces of jewelry for 30 years. She uses silver, top quality semi-precious stones and pearls in her creations. Beautifully inspired from living on the Hawaiian Islands, each piece is a unique creation made with precision and detail. Special creations are available upon request. Painting

Carol Bradshaw - watercolor

Examples of Carol Bradshaw watercolor pieces are featured in the Gallery. Included are meticulous rendered botanicals. Besides teaching her craft, she also shows in various juried art shows in the Southwestern United States.

Paul Chamberlain

As residents of Glendale California, Paul and his wife Darlene have been Kernville “weekenders” for many years. Their second home in Kernville allows Paul the opportunity to indulge his passion for plein air and studio oil painting of the endless subjects offered by the wonderful Kern River Valley. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, Paul’s love of color and unique composition have led him to document a rich variety of subjects including the river, mountains and valleys as well as local landmarks and historical places. Lois Hinman

Lois paints the local landscape the way she sees it, in vibrant colors and with exuberant brushstrokes. She has lived in Ridgecrest for many years and has visited the Kern valley to paint and enjoy the riches this valley has to offer. She paints her landscapes en plein aire and has traveled to many places to paint her impressionistic paintings, which are done in oil on canvas. Please Visit Lois's Website.

Rich Pelletreau

Rich Pelletreau captures the intrigues of nature in acrylics. He paints with an Alla Prima form of painting; a style that is a combination of impressionism and vivid realism, which is as spontaneous as the wildlife he paints. Rich paints the tension and feeling of the drama that takes place in nature’s scheme of life.

Pat Seamount - oil/watercolor

Pat’s artwork draws from her experiences with people. She paints glimpses of unique moments in people’s lives with sensitivity and compassion. Pat is also a performing musician.

Carol H. Wermuth - oils

Carol paints portraits of the "old ones", ancestors of today's American Indians, to honor them as well as expressing her own Cherokee heritage. Her portraits convey the deep respect and spiritual affinity she has with the people she paints.


Photography

Katharine Edmonson

Katharine draws on her travels to express the awe and inspiration she gets from living on our planet. Journeys to Venice, Chile, Iceland, and Kenya, has inspired her to try to capture the moment to share.

Peter Figen

Peter Figen is a photographer working in Los Angeles, shooting commercial assignments for a variety of clients. He has worked extensively in the music and electronics industry, making portraits of people from George Harrison and Bonnie Raitt to Willie Dixon, Coolio, and Snoop Dogg. As busy as his commercial schedule makes him, he still finds time to explore his favorite parts of the country, including the Eastern Sierras along US 395, Death Valley National Park, and the greater American Southwest, including Monument Valley, Chaco Canyon and Canyonlands. Carol Van Maarth

Carol's photographs provide a record of life in the rugged and wild terrain of the Sierra Nevada Foothills. What could be more apropos than the American cowboy and the west. Just to the east of Bakersfield, and 150 miles north of the glitz of Los Angeles, this area truly is the 'Gateway to the West'. Carol lives and works in Walker Basin, a small mountain community where ranching is still a way of life...her photos also include images taken in and around Death Valley & Hwy 395 along the Eastern Sierras.

Katharine has always been interested in the variation and expression of the human face. Making masks for over 13 years, one can see the influence of Kenya and Venice where she has traveled.


Woodworking Fine Art

Redbud: Carla and Keith Thorn

Carla and Keith create an artistic team that fuse creative art that is environmentally friendly and functional. They use reclaimed hardwood products to make their artistic solid wood pieces. Exotic woods used in their products have been salvaged from sources such as crating, construction waste, door bottoms, pallets, discarded furniture and cabinet scrapes.
